On this site we’d like familiarize you with i18n around WordPress.com and Automattic. This site has been created by Team Global which was formed in 2014.
This site has two big sections:

Terminology
Let’s first discuss the abbreviations that we’re frequently using, just so that we make sure we’re talking about the same thing.
i18n
Internationalization is the act of making software in a way that it can (potentially) be adapted for the requirements of local markets.
l10n
Adapting software for local markets is called localization. This includes translating text to the local language but also making sure that local aspects are not ignored, such making sure that local addresses can be entered into forms and local payment methods are accepted.
